I came to the United States to improve my English skills and learn about the American culture.

I look forward to this internship opportunity at World Trade Center Delaware because it will help me to learn business aspects in an American company and apply what I have learned in school. Also I will be exposed to the international trade environment, what is going to help me in the future with my career, and gain valuable work experience.
Andrew Byrd
My name is Andrew Byrd. I am currently pursuing a dual degree in Spanish Studies and International Relations with a concentration in Latin American Development at the University of Delaware. My date of graduation is Spring 2010.

Although I am a proud Delaware native, I am also very interested in living and working outside the United States. I spent a full year in Leksand, Sweden, as well as a semester in Puebla, Mexico as a study abroad student. In addition, I studied at the American University in Cairo in Cairo, Egypt while working as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher with forcibly displaced refugees. As a result of my international and educational experience, I am a passionate language learner currently able to speak fluent Spanish, Swedish and English. My current challenge language wise is acquisition of the Arabic language, a goal that I hope to fulfill within the next few of years. In addition, I enjoy playing tennis, snowboarding, reading and planning my next trip abroad.

The opportunity to intern at the World Trade Center Delaware is an invaluable experience. At WTCDE I am not only working with business from around the State of Delaware, but the entire globe. As such, I am confident that this internship will provide me with practical experience, and other useful tools in which to utilize as I move forward in my career as a prosperous member of an internationally based organization.
Alexis Cannestro
My name is Alexis Cannestro, and I am from North East, Maryland. I am a recent graduate of Goldey Beacom College, where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in International Business. I am enthusiastic and excited about learning and understanding new cultures. I consider myself lucky, as I have had many opportunities to travel and explore new cultures and I believe I am a better person because of this. I have travelled throughout the United States and Europe. I attended boarding school in England and during the fall of 2008, I spent four months studying Spanish and travelling throughout Ecuador. I hope to continue my international experiences throughout my lifetime, in order to observe and understand as many different cultures as possible.

I am very much looking forward to my internship at the World Trade Center of Delaware, as I believe this will be the perfect opportunity for me to experience a vibrant international atmosphere, as well as, gain valuable business experience. I am excited for an opportunity to work with and utilize my skills for an international non-profit organization, which encourages local and international economic stimulation. Before I came to the University of Delaware to pursue my master degree, I worked as an associate consultant providing ERP implementation for a year in Beijing. Previous to that, I was a software engineer. My multi-major background gives me opportunity to work in different industries with professionals. Now I am focusing on time series econometrics. After graduating I intend to get a job functioning as financial analyzing, risk management or business consulting.

Although, FIT is highly recognized for its design background, the International Trade and Marketing curriculum was created to allow graduates to perform well in any area of the trade sector. With the world growing closer together and doing more business cross borders, it was important for me to become more interested in foreign policy issues and understand how crucial it is to create productive international relationships.

Now that I returned to Wilmington, DE, I am very excited to have this opportunity of being an intern for World Trade Center Delaware. From this experience, I hope to stay abreast on new developments in Delaware's trade community and be exposed to all the services WTCD has to offer businesses in the First State. This will be a time for me to meet great people who share the same passion I have for marketing within the trade industry and to create a stronger foundation for an exciting career choice.

I came to the United States from Colombia to improve my English with the goal of earning a Master's of Business Administration degree. I have a bachelor's degree in International Trade and four years of working experience. Since I understand that the United States businesses operate in a different way, it is my main goal to get deep insight not only about American companies that trade throughout the world, but also their business' practices and culture. I strongly believe that being an intern at the World Trade Center Delaware is the right place to start building my organizational skills in this country.

When I interned at the WTC Delaware in winter 2005-2006, I had the opportunity to become aware of the vast array of useful information sources it possesses. In addition, its staff is experienced in subjects related to the global economy which can help me tailor my course of study directly to my career interests. Now that I am about to finish my MBA education, I perceive working inside the WTC organization as an once-in-a-lifetime experience that may launch me into the right career path. I believe this internship will enhance my business credentials and will help me get ready for the American competitive labor market.
