As part of its continuing commitment to renewable resources, Duffield Associates relocated to its Wilmington property and landmark farm buildings in 1980. Portions of this barn, which predates 1800, were first renovated into office space in 1984. Later it was expanded and further renovated in 1995 and again in 1998. In all of the renovations, Duffield Associates’ goal has been to beneficially use the property while preserving the agricultural past of the Mill Creek Hundred. Documents show that buildings existed on the property since the 1860's, but the barn may have predated 1800. It was totally rebuilt in 1932, except for some foundations. Although no one knows the exact succession of ownership, it is known that the land was acquired by Wilhelmina DuPont Ross who owned the surrounding land now known as Limestone Hills. In the 1930's, the property was passed on to the owners of Delaware Park, the John Ross family, who used the land for farming, the barn for horse stables, and the farmhouse as a home for a horse trainer. Prior to its occupancy, the New Castle County Historical Preservation Board designated the farmhouse, barn, and accompanying land as "historically significant." Today, Duffield Associates’ Wilmington property stands as a reminder to its community that history can be an integral part of carefully planned growth.

In most cases even the largest studs are removed in seconds with no heat build up in the threaded housing, and no damage to the threaded portion.
MSI also employs state of the art technology through its metal disintegration machines ("MDM")-the most powerful units available today anywhere in the world. MSI can completely remove a three-inch diameter stud, 5-1/2" deep, in less than 2-1/2 hours, WITH NO DAMAGE TO THE HOUSING. Pins, studs, and bolts, in all shapes and sizes, composed of any metal manufactured, can be removed safely and effectively utilizing our MDM's.

MSI can remove any size-or burn any configuration-from 40 thousandths of an inch to five inches in diameter in one pass. Larger studs or holes can be made using multiple passes. Historically in all facets of industry, studs, bolts and pins have been a major time-consuming and financially-draining experience for maintenance managers around the world. The conventional means of removing studs has been to double nut and attempt to back off, or weld a nut on the stud and then try to hammer it out. In each case, time and manpower are put to extremes. After using the aforementioned methods, approximately half the studs will be removed with some damage to either the housing, the studs, or both in most cases. The primary reason these methods prove to be ineffective is side loading-the mechanical binding of the threaded surfaces against each other. When this occurs, heat builds up due to friction within the threads of the stud and housing, which, in turn, creates a gall and prevents the stud from being removed. If attempts are made to remove a stud hydraulically, the gall created by this friction will be carried through the housing, ultimately tearing out the threads.
