Since their beginning in 1965, Wilmington Tug, Inc. has been owned and operated by the Rowland family. Wilmington Tug's commitment to providing superior service is unsurpassed.

From the founder, Captain Harry H. Rowland to the current president, Captain H. Hickman Rowland, Jr., the owners' expertise has helped put together the most advanced tug fleet for ship assist work found in any port on the U.S. eastern coast.

The company has steadily been upgrading its fleet over the past decade. In 2001 it took delivery of the 4,100-hp Capt. Harry. In 2005 the company re-powered its tug Tina with new engines and z-drives. In 2006 it took delivery of Sonie. In 2007 it re-powered the tug Sally with new engines and z-drives. And most recently, in 2008, Wilmington has introduced it latest tug - Madeline - named for Chris Rowland's oldest daughter who is the great grand-daughter of the company's founder.

Services:
Wilmington Tug handles more than 700 ships a year, including more than half of the crude oil tankers coming into the river and over 90% of the cargo ships calling at the Port of Wilmington. 

Wilmington is presently operating a fleet of eight tugs, six of which are Z-Drive tugs. The three newest tugs are all over 4,000 hp.

Distinctiveness:
Wilmington Tug operates from two bases on the Delaware River- Wilmington and Philadelphia. This allows them to offer highly responsive service and competitive pricing.
