World Trade Center Network proves invaluable for Delaware company expanding in the Middle East

Wilmington, DEFor over 35 years AutoPort, Inc, a full-service auto modification and processing facility, has offered the widest range of port processing services on the East Coast. Dick Johnson, Director of Business Development at AutoPort, has recently tapped into resources available to Delaware businesses through WTC Delaware and the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) network.

This past May, Dick Johnson and AutoPort’s Middle East Regional Manager Derek Wales met with Omar Abu Salma, Sales and Marketing Director at the World Trade Center in Doha, Qatar. “Mr. Salma was very helpful at listening to what we did and suggesting opportunities in Qatar and also Lebanon.  He was particularly helpful by filling us in on how to do business in Lebanon and what he felt were the available opportunities,” said Mr. Johnson.

“Sometimes the biggest challenges our companies have are the cultural barriers they face in foreign countries,” stated Sean Kathleen Curran, Director of Client Relations at WTC Delaware.  “Our network of World Trade Centers allows us to put our members in touch with regional business experts who can help guide them through these challenges.”

In addition to advice on potential business opportunities and regional market integration, Mr. Salma has offered AutoPort assistance with trade shows in Qatar. AutoPort looks forward to building on this relationship, and to having a “partner” in the region from whom their Regional Manager can seek advice.

Members of WTC Delaware are part of an extensive network of the over 300 World Trade Centers in 95 countries that make up the WTCA.  WTCA regional representatives throughout the world can be key resources for Delaware companies as they pursue overseas business and expansion.
